Betong, Thailand

That's the biggest post box in the world..!! I kid u not..!!!! And it's in Betong, Thailand - build by the British in 1924. I had an unplanned trip to Betong today. It started off by just checking out the temporary office for our new officer to be placed in Gerik. The office is small but furnished. Thanks to the D.O. who was kind enough to lend us the space while we look for a bigger office. I thought we had some time to kill before we have to start back to Ipoh, so i asked the driver to take me to Pengkalan Hulu as i've never been to the place.

Small town, but they told me that we could check out the duty free shop near the border to Thailand. So i said okayy... It was near lunch and i said we could have our lunch there. Turns out the shop was just like a mini market really... but i bought some chocolates... hersheys... Then out of nowhere (it seems to me) some officers came by and suggested we have lunch across the border in Betong .. well.. authentic thai cuisine..? Who am i to refuse such good food?? So off we go.... and the food was really good..!! After wards, they took me around town and the biggest post box in the world!!

Some interesting place to visit too i think.. there's a communist tunnel, hot springs... maybe i'll be back for a planned trip next time.... hmmm..

Masuk paper

Masuk paper dah nama aku... Tapi wat kes orang giler jer... Well, i hope its a closure for the family of the deceased. The accused shouldn't be left to fend for himself nor relied on to take his medicine. One day he may forget again.. to the detriment of some other innocent soul.

2nd orang giler case.... in one month that i am here.... with drug trafficking, firearms and illegal assembly in between. Well, never say prosecution is boring.... tiring, crazy, confusing... yess!!... never boring....

Time to really focus on the files that never seem to shrink in size or numbers... they seem like they just added themselves on the shelf, table, coffee table... aarrghhh!!

2012 - when the world ends, melayu akan hilang dari dunia

I watch 2012 recently. Have to watch it on the big screen... the CG effect is spectacular.. u could almost feel that this may be how kiamat will happen. Tsunami, earth quakes, volcano eruptions.... wow!!!

At the end of it all, it slowly dawn on me... the President of the US shared the information only with G8 nations.... They hatched a plan to build an ark, no.. several arks with tickets sold to those who can afford it - at 1 bil. euro for each tickets... so... only the citizens of G8 countries and some rich Arabs can board the arks .. oh.. and several chinese workers.... but ..... no south indians (their brilliant scientist didn't get picked-up..), no southeast-asian citizens.. (that's u and me folks!!) and no polynesians either...

So there..!! wonder what Hang Tuah will say about that..!!

Power corrupts

Big news lately over the Kelantan MB and his SIL. Lots of denials, finger-pointing, conspiracy theory etc... Typical really.. No.., not that there would be denials or any of that sort of thing. What's typical is the effect of power over anyone.. It's a cliche.. but it's true... power does corrupt.. and depending on what type or kind of power it is, it will corrupt in different ways with different consequences..

Lets look at a child... 4/5 year old child crying and stomping his feet in the middle of a supermarket over a toy that he wants but his parents wont get for him... Its a power struggle .. if the child wins and the parents give way (embarrassed, maybe) the child would gain power. He would be corrupted in that he will try the same tricks again and again so long as he gets what he wants.

A husband.., getting what he wants by belittling his wife or putting fear or hand on her.. would gain power by that submission.. the power he gets over her will corrupt him, the family.. even her in that her willpower, dignity, self-worth will be corrupted and lost..

For people in power, or popular, or idolised... people's trust, adoration is very addictive... they gave u power when they listen and agree to everything u say.... but with that power and adoration, no one dares to say anything against u, give u a different perspective... and u would start to believe in ur own propaganda... when that happens, when u reject any other views not in line with yours ... because u know u have the power to reject those views, because of ur power, u know no one dares to contradict u... that's when u will be corrupted...

If doesn't matter what ideology or beliefs any of us hold... It doesnt matter the value of the corruption... a corrupt practice of RM1 is equally wrong as a corrupt practice worth millions. Both corrupt the soul.....
